Simply put, AI covers software and systems capable of performing tasks that previously required human thinking. The key difference from a conventional AI application is autonomy. Where regular AI responds to a request, an agent can perceive the bigger picture, plan the next steps, and adapt its behaviour as the situation changes.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\nWhat is the difference between an AI agent and automation?<\/summary>\nTraditional automation is based on pre-defined rules. When something happens, a pre-defined action is triggered. This works well for standardised and predictable processes where exceptions are rare. An AI agent can operate in the midst of uncertainty. It assesses the situation based on available data, makes decisions according to the current context, and changes its approach as circumstances change.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\nWhich processes are AI agents best suited to?<\/summary>\nBest suited are repetitive, data-based tasks: first-line customer service responses, retrieving and combining information from different systems, generating reports, filling in forms, and triggering processes.
